Car Insurance
If you own one or more autos, it is mandated by the State of Texas that you purchase Liability Insurance on your autos to protect the public from at fault accidents. Following are the basics of the policy.
Bodily Injury and Property Damage – This coverage applies to injuries or property damage you or family member or designated driver may cause to someone else. It is important to carry adequate limits of liability and we recommend limits that exceed the state minimum limits since they are inadequate to take care of most accidents.
Personal Injury Protection or Medical Payments – These are optional coverages which provide a limit of coverage for medical injuries to persons riding in your auto whether it is an at fault accident or not.
Uninsured/Underinsured Motorists – This coverage comes into play when an at fault driver either has inadequate coverage or has allowed their coverages to lapse and they hit you or your designated driver causing Bodily Injury and/or Property Damage.
Comprehensive – This coverage covers your auto for physical losses other than collision with an object. Typical losses are for theft, hail, wind, fire, explosion, vandalism, falling objects, etc.
Collision – This coverage pays for damage to your car from colliding with another car or object, upset, overturn. If you are at fault, it pays subject to your deductible. If you are not at fault, it can pay for damage to your auto subject to deductible and you could be reimbursed after your company recovers from the other parties insurance.
Towing – This is an optional coverage which can reimburse you for towing charges due to a mechanical breakdown or if the auto has to be towed after an accident.
Rental – This coverage is also optional and provides a limit for a rental vehicle in the event of an accident while your auto is undergoing repairs.
